Welcome to our latest Destination Africa — a special collection of stories, adventures and remote travel inspiration from the Journeys by Design team.

We share: a 12-day helicopter expedition into South Sudan's core eco-regions, the first of its kind by both our team and NGO African Parks; my trip to Botswana with my old friend Andrew McCarthy writing for Condé Nast Traveler; the FT's David Pilling's search for 'the village of elephants' deep in the rainforests of the Congo Basin, which I also privately guided; and more on Hannah Rayner's trip to West Africa.

In the village of the elephants

The Financial Times’s David Pilling travels from the Republic of Congo to Sangha Lodge in Dzanga Sangha Special Reserve in Central African Republic, spending time with Rod and Tamar Cassidy, visiting the ‘mother of all bais’ and accompanying the Ba’aka net hunters on an excursion into the forest.
